Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist with KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. In the following two years, she became an general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. Then she was named chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She also served as a panelist in the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering at the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered a myriad of notable stories, including arm control, tax reform for the budget and the Iran-contra scandal. She also visited extensively in the company of President Reagan to meetings along with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world presidents.
